Small Engines require spare parts. Parts that are most often purchased include seals, fuel filters, spark plugs, mufflers.
What are the key components of a small engine?
Block - Small engines use a metal block that contains the combustion chamber and acts as a chasis for mounting the engine to the device that it will power.
Piston - Log splitters use hydraulic pressure to create pressure to actuate the cylinder.
Connecting Rod - the connecting rod connects the piston to the drive shaft.
Spark Plug - the spark plug converts electrical energy into a spark that is used to ignite the fuel / air mixture in the cylinder.
Fuel Tank - Gasoline is the primary fuel of small engines. It is stored in the gas tank of the small engine.
Carburetor - The engine requires the correct ratio of fuel and air in order to sustain proper combustion. The carburetor controls the mixing of these two fluids.
Muffler - The muffler controls the flow of exhaust gases as they leave the combustion area. The muffler reduces the noise of these gases as they leave the engine.
